The keyword “Con Son tourism in Can Tho” ranked fourth among the top 10 most searched terms for tourism category by Vietnamese users on Google search.

Over the past 10 years, Con Son has welcomed a large number of visitors, yet still preserves its rustic charm and the signature lush greenery of the Mekong Delta. Visitors to Con Son enjoy the tranquil scenery of fish ponds and seasonal orchards, join with local people to collect and sort plastic bottles to build boats, compost fruit peels for organic fertilizer, and plant trees to maintain a clean and green environment.

Ly Van Bon, owner of the Bay Bon fish-cage farming on the Hau River, has combined fish farming with tourism. He said developing tourism helps Con Son introduce rare fish species and native plants while protecting the environment and water resources.

“Since we started combining tourism with visiting fish-cage farms, orchards, and craft villages, watching flying snakehead fish shows and frog circus, staying in homestays and camping on islets, we have welcomed more visitors and many of them have even returned,” said Son.

According to the World Travel and Tourism Council’s forecast on global tourism trends, the trends of “green tourism,” “sustainable experiences,” and “personalized journeys” have grown strongly this year.

Tourist destinations and travel companies in Can Tho have diversified green tours with attractive promotions, encouraging tourists to join locals in meaningful activities like collecting and sorting waste.

Le Dinh Minh Thy, Director of Vietravel’s Can Tho branch, said: “We aim to bring a touch of green to every journey. For example, we try to minimize waste and promote the message of nature protection. We are gradually shifting to environmentally friendly materials used during the tours, such as biodegradable bags. Plastic bottles are being replaced with environmentally friendly alternatives.”

Duy Tan is a visitor from Soc Trang province: “There are numerous tourism promotional programs. I decided to come here and stay for a few days. Many companies are offering incredibly good discounts, which will definitely help tourism grow.”

To strengthen tourism connectivity between Ho Chi Minh City and adjacent provinces, the leaders of localities have agreed to promote green tourism in the second half of the year with the theme “Sustainable tourism and Net Zero goal.”

Thuy said: “Many businesses have come up with innovative initiatives, such as creating special online platforms, running promotional events, and refreshing the culinary experience. Accommodation facilities offer discounts of at least 20–30%.

Tour organizers are designing creative summer journeys to attract travelers. With these combined efforts, the tourism sector is poised to thrive.”

With a series of promotions and practical experiences associated with environmental protection activities, the 2025 summer tourism season in Can Tho promises to offer visitors memorable journeys.
