The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) on January 26 held an award ceremony of logo-symbol designing contest for the National Tourism Promotion Programme over the 2011-2015 period.

The first prize went to the designing team of the Cowan Vietnam Company with a new logo -slogan “Vietnam – a Different Orientâ€.
According to the Organising Board, inspired from the star in Vietnam’s national flag, the new logo shows the reviewed vitality of a newly-emerging Vietnam with its unique national identity, while the slogan reflects the uniqueness, independence, and new vision of Vietnam – an attractive destination in Asia.
The Organising Board also presented a second, a third, and seven consolation prizes to other designers.

The contest, jointly held by the VNAT and the Viettime Media Company, aims to promote Vietnam’s image and attract more international visitors within the framework of tourism development programme in the 2011-2015 period and the development strategy of Vietnam tourism for the 2010-2020 period.
Since it was launched 4 months ago, the contest has attracted 413 entries from 223 designers.
In the 2010-2020 period, the tourism sector expects to raise the number of international visitors by 10-15% and domestic visitors by 15-18%.
