Vietnamese Culture Week 2014 opened in Phnom Penh, Cambodia on August 31, aiming to boost cultural exchanges and strengthen friendship and co-operation between the two nations.
The opening night delighted local people with a special song and dance programme entitled 'Viet Nam-Cambodia, joining the great fold of friendship' performed by Vietnamese artists, praising the country and people of Viet Nam and Cambodia.
Speaking at the event, Cambodian Minister of Culture and Fine Arts, Phoeurng Sackona said that the cultural week was a practical activity that will help enhance the mutual understanding and solidarity as well as tighten the friendship and co-operation between the two countries.
Meanwhile, Vietnamese Deputy Minister of Culture, Sports and Tourism Le Thanh Hai said that the cultural week in Cambodia is one of major cultural events to implement the cultural co-operation plan between the two sides and to foster the good neighbouring ties between the two countries.
The cultural week is taking place in Phnom Penh and Siem Reap between August 31 and September 5, including a series of activities such as song and dance performances and photo exhibitions.
