Da Nang emerges as ideal destination for slow travel experiences
Update: Dec 30, 2025
Bathed in the gentle sunlight of the transitional period at the end of the year, Da Nang is emerging as an ideal destination for slow travel - a form of tourism that encourages travelers to move less, stay longer, experience destinations through everyday life, and forge deeper connections with themselves and their surroundings rather than packed itineraries.

According to data from Google Trends, searches for slow travel have tripled over the past five years. The platform also highlights ideal destinations for leisurely strolls and diverse life exploration, with Da Nang standing out for its walking and cycling options from long stretches of sandy beaches and breezy riverside routes to lush mountain and forest landscapes.

It's clear that Da Nang has all the advantages to meet the demands of slow travel. Specifically, the central coastal city boasts a harmonious natural setting, a rich and distinctive local culture and cuisine, friendly residents, and a relaxed pace of life.

During the transition period between winter and spring, the weather is particularly quite inviting, with cool air, mild sunshine, and a light chill in the early mornings or late afternoons which are all perfect conditions for going sightseeing and relaxing all day long.

According to Mr. Nguyen Van Huy, a freelance tour guide in Da Nang, at this time of the year, popular types of tourism currently include ecotourism, wellness tourism, local cultural exploration, workation travel, and seasonal experiences such as cloud hunting or flower-viewing excursions.

Mr. Kirubakaran Rajendran, a tourist from India, shared that he traveled solo to Vietnam without any specific plans and chose Da Nang as the only city to experience.

“It turned out to be the most relaxing and emotionally rich year-end holiday I’ve ever had. Da Nang offers something very different from the cities I’ve visited before: a sense of peace, gentleness, authenticity, and warmth” he said.

Travel blogger Tran Thi Cam Ha (Ha Chan) from Phu Yen spent a long vacation in Da Nang to slowly enjoy the subtle transition between winter and spring. After more than a week of leisurely exploring this livable city, she shared her memorable, simple experiences, like a journey of emotional healing amidst the hustle and bustle of everyday life.

In the context of an increasing number of people seeking meaningful and in-depth experiences, Da Nang, with its relaxed pace of life, beautiful natural scenery, and friendly culture, is increasingly asserting its position as the perfect destination for slow travel.

A survey by the French travel company Evazio on global travel trends in 2025 shows that travelers are prioritizing high-quality, longer, and more relaxed trips, with focus on sustainability and mental well-being.

Slow travelers see each experience as an opportunity to learn, explore, and deeply connect with local people, cultures, and unique characteristics of destinations they visit, thereby gaining more unique and lasting travel value. Notably, this has been the fastest-growing tourism trend over the past year.

Slow-paced journeys are often associated with a small area, using low-speed modes of transport such as walking, cycling, or train travel, allowing travelers to fully absorb each moment.

Instead of rushing between multiple destinations on a fixed schedule, travelers can leisurely enjoy local life, wake up early to watch the sunrise, enjoy coffee at a small roadside café, visit a museum, and contemplate history and art.
