Hanoi joins forces with other provinces to develop tourism
Update: Jul 05, 2010
The tourism authorities of Hanoi and three neighboring provinces will cooperate to tap their local potentials and thus make their tourism products more attractive to travelers.

Pham Quang Long, director of the Hanoi Department of Culture, Sports, and Tourism, told the Daily that representatives of Hanoi, Vinh Phuc, Tuyen Quang and Thai Nguyen had met with the Vietnam National Administration of Tourism over the cooperation plan.

The four provincial departments of culture, sports and tourism will ink a tourism cooperation deal some time this month.

Hanoi earlier had a similar deal with four other provinces, Thanh Hoa, Nghe An, Thua Thien-Hue and Binh Dinh.

In the deal signed late last month, the five tourism departments pledge cooperation to jointly develop tourism products, promotions, human resources, and business links for travel firms, among others.

As for tourism products, they will renew a special tour that takes in former royal capital cities of the country, arrange caravan tours from the central provinces to Hanoi and other northern parts, and attract more Chinese tourists from the north to come to attractions in the central region.

“Hanoi wants to create a regional network for tourism development,” Long said, adding cooperation between neighboring provinces having international airports, overland border gates and tourist attractions would help to woo more tourists.
