Deputy Prime Minister Nguyen Thien Nhan has approved a proposal by the Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism to choose some provinces to host the annual national tourism promotion program from 2012 till 2017.
The website of the Government quoted him as saying the event will take place in Thua Thien-Hue in 2012, Haiphong City in 2013, Lam Dong Province in 2014, Thanh Hoa Province in 2015, Kien Giang Province in 2016, and Lao Cai Province in 2017.
The theme of the 2011 event to be hosted by Phu Yen Province is Exotic Beaches and Islands.
The Vietnam National Administration of Tourism (VNAT) will arrange a trip through the central region from December 3 to 10 to look into infrastructure, products and services for the forthcoming program. The trip was originally planned in the middle of this November but delayed due to a string of severe floods in the central region.
In addition to Phu Yen, the event will take place in other coastal Provinces such as Quang Nam, Quang Ngai, Binh Dinh, Khanh Hoa, and Danang.
According to VNAT, the organizing committee will call a press conference in Phu Yen on December 5 to announce festivities for the year-long tourism program.
The previous hosts of the program were Quang Ninh, Dien Bien, Nghe An, Quang Nam, Thai Nguyen, and Can Tho, and Hanoi.
