10 outstanding events of culture, sports and tourism in 2011

The Ministry of Culture, Sports and Tourism officially announced ten outstanding cultural, sports and tourism events in 2011 in Ha Noi on December 27.

1. UNESCO has recognized the Citadel of Ho Dynasty as the world cultural heritage.


2. Xoan singing of Phu Tho Province has been recognized as the intangible cultural heritage in need of urgent safeguarding by UNESCO.


3. The first national performance of Viet Nam's 54 ethnic groups' traditional costumes -
2011.


4. The 100th anniversary of the Ha Noi Opera House.


5. The First International Tea Festival - Thai Nguyen, Viet Nam 2011.


6. Vietnamese sports delegation won 288 medals including 96 gold, 92 silver and 100 bronze medals, ranked third in the 26th SEA Games.

The first world bronze medal of Phan Thi Ha Thanh at the Artistic Gymnastics World Championships Tokyo 2011 (Japan).  She has officially got a ticket to the London 2012 Olympic Games.


8. Hoang Quy Phuoc won two gold medals at the 26th SEA Games, broke
SEA Games record in the men’s 100m butterfly swimevent, met standard to participate in London 2012 Olympic Games.

 

9. Ha Long Bay has listed as one of seven new natural wonders of the world.


10. Viet Nam’s tourism sector welcomed six-millionth international visitor.
